Davie Medical Center:
President Proud to Call Davie Home
It has been a whirlwind year for Chad J. Brown, M.B.A., M.H.A., the first president of both the Bermuda Run and Mocksville campuses of Wake Forest Baptist Health Davie Medical Center. With his first anniversary approaching, he describes the community excitement and support for the new Bermuda Run location as exhilarating.
“The Bermuda Run campus brings a dramatic expansion of services to Davie and surrounding areas – in terms of physicians, specialty services and investment. I witness the enthusiasm, excitement and support daily,” he said. “And I, personally, have experienced what a warm and welcoming community this is.”
During his first year, Brown met many area residents through hospital-hosted and community events. However, he looks forward to more of these opportunities in the coming month.
“Davie County is an exciting place to be,” he said. “There is such a momentum for success with the opening of the Bermuda Run location, economic growth and a new high school on the horizon. Davie is prime for success, and I’m fortunate to be a part of it.”
Brown, his wife, Jeannine, and their three children, Avery, 16, Bella, 14, and Carter, 11, live in the Oak Valley area of eastern Davie County. He is a health care executive with 20 years of experience leading hospital operations. He earned his M.B.A/M.H.A. at the University of Houston – Clear Lake, and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
The Bermuda Run campus opened in late 2013 and brings the resources of an academic medical center even closer to home for those living in Davie and surrounding areas. The 88-acre site includes two buildings. Medical Plaza One, is a four-story medical office building housing physician practices in orthopaedics, cardiology, neurology and ophthalmology. It also houses cardiac, pulmonary and orthopaedic rehabilitation, a clinical laboratory and a public pharmacy.
Medical Plaza Two is home to the Emergency Department staffed 24/7 by board-certified emergency medicine physicians. It also houses an outpatient surgery center and offers a full array of diagnostic imaging capabilities.
Bermuda Run campus also promotes wellness and healthy lifestyles. It features a safe, well-lit public walking path (named “Path to Wellness” through a community sponsored contest.) “We are creating a culture of wellness by bringing Best Health programming to Davie County,” Brown said. “We are committed to promoting good health through demonstrations in our cooking kitchen, health screenings and a classroom area devoted to providing healthy living information.”
The site, located just off Exit 180 on Interstate 40, provides a beautiful setting for all aspects of medical care. “We offer a beautiful campus, but our doctors, staff and volunteers are the heart of our patient-and family-centered care,” Brown said. “They have a true passion for our patients. Each is committed to providing high quality, compassionate and personalized care.”
Plans are on track for a new inpatient bed tower with Brown leading the next steps in the planning process. “Our pledge is to broaden services to improve the health of Davie County and surrounding areas,” Brown said.
