Blogging. It’s SO NOT NEW.  Probably one of my biggest regrets is not starting this sooner, but I digress.  As the saying goes, better late than never, right?

A little background on why we’re starting now.  You see, nine years ago I took a leap of faith and decided to start a small magazine (DavieLiFE).  I remember when the idea first struck, I was super excited—the possibilities seemed endless!  Since then, the publication has thrived (something I’m VERY GRATEFUL for), but I’m ready to take it up a notch and blogging seems like the notch to explore!  (And just to clarify, DavieLiFE isn’t going anywhere 🙂 ).

First issue of DavieLiFE magazine, 2010

Boy a lot has changed since our first issue–our boys have grown up!

If you’re like most people, you read blogs pretty regularly.  Sometimes you read them intentionally, other times you read them because you just happened to land on them (thanks to Google and the power of social media).  Maybe you’re searching for DIY tips, a new recipe or even doing some research on a product you’re thinking of buying.  Regardless, you’ve probably found the information you were looking for on a blog.  But, what makes blogs different and why do we trust them so much?

There are a slew of reasons why, but here are just a few of my personal reasons for digging blogs.

  1. Blogs give you answers. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill or educate yourself on how to approach your next venture, you can almost guarantee there is someone else out there who knows about what you’re in search of. And guess what, they’ve blogged about it.
  2. You want honest information?  Blogs are the ticket. Of course a company or product is gonna give raving reviews of their product or service—come on, they’re in the business to sell something.  However, what if you’re checking out a product or service and need to get the scoop without all the fluff?  Bloggers who share their experiences will tell the good and the bad and honestly, who doesn’t want legit feedback before you load something to your shopping cart!
  3. Everyone needs a little inspiration.  Have you ever had one of those days where you are convinced that no one understands where you’re at in life or how you feel?  We all have and sometimes its just plain hard to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and forge ahead.  BUT, when someone writes about their own struggles, offers advice and gives that encouragement that you just can’t give yourself….well, it can be just the inspiration you need.

So, what can you expect from this blog, Another Slice of LiFE

For starters, we’re going against the grain and NOT putting ourselves in a “niche corner”.  We just have too much to share!  For now, you can expect our content to range from healthy/clean eating, to a little bit of fashion, tossed in with a little bit of entrepreneurial/marketing strategy and sprinkled with a fresh perspective on all things family.  Yes, it seems like a bit of a hodge-podge, but trust me, there is a plan and we think it just might work. 🙂

So, what’s next?

Over the next few days, we’ll be introducing our blog’s contributors, along with what you can expect from them.  Our current “cast” is pretty impressive (if I do say so myself) and I think you’re gonna love hearing from them!

In the meantime, I would LOVE for you to subscribe to our email list to stay up-to-date on where this blog takes us, and also invite you to join our private Facebook Group where we hope to have some conversations online.

We’re excited to start this new venture and hope you’ll join us for the ride!

Talk to you soon!
